Schoepf’s is located at 702 E. Central in Belton. They have barbeque across the street from the backyard music venue. We recommend the barbeque – brisket and pulled pork were our choices this visit. They also sell limited barbeque at the backyard site. The night we visited was a no cover night – sponsors had taken care of the overhead for Mason Lively and Jason Boland.

We heard Mason Lively when he opened for Pat Green last year at Johnny’s Outback in Salado. They are an enthusiastic band that plays great dance music. We talked briefly with Mason after his set and told him how much we liked his band.

The dance pad was small, but quite a few couples were spinning around the kids chasing each other. A small group gathered at the stage to take photos and sing along with Mason.

There was a bouncy house for the kids, rows of porta potty’s, plenty of picnic tables to sit and enjoy the music, and two bars that served liquor. One bar had a food line that sold barbeque and sides. Lots of shade over the tables.

The main attraction was Jason Boland and his band. The dance pad got crowded with people when he came on, but if you were tight with your moves, there was still room to dance. We ended up in the gravel for a bit just to keep from bumping into people. People were friendly and willing to share a table and the crowd was into the music and visiting.

It was a great venue, and wonderful dance music. Check it out if you are in the area!
