The Peppermint Lounge was located at one time at 8730 Airport Rd, Temple.
Stephen Dean took the photo shown here in 2006. He had a cryptic address of NE Temple, Hwy 317 & 36. Internet search gave me the above address.
I drove by April 14, 2021. There was an empty lot, overgrown with vegetation and a hint of a concrete pad. Mark this down as one of the lost dancehalls. 😦
Several other dance halls I tried to locate on this trip were:
Sonora Ballroom – No information found on internet or Stephen’s list.
El Pioneer Ballroom – Only information was it used to be SE of Temple on 3117.
Bar-Tex – Stephen noted it was east of Temple on Hwy 53 in the 40’s or 50’s.
Sons of Hermann – which used to house in the SPJST #47 hall (see related post.) Sons of Hermann website does not show a local lodge so it may have folded or incorporated into an adjoining area.
