Silver wings Ballroom at 4100 TX 105 in Brenham is a skating rink with a great wood floor, glitter ball on the ceiling, and a food counter at the front. Jim, his wife and two daughters have opened the business in 1976. Jim was very gracious with his time and gave us a little history and a list (of which I’ve forgotten most) of names who have played there in the past. I do remember George Strait and Kevin Fowler.
They continue to have live concerts on occasion. Seating is in front of the stage, dancing is designated on either side. When they first opened they had music three times a week. This gradually dwindled to the current once a month event.
The rink was busy with kids of all ages and a few adults skating in circles to the music.
Jim led us out to the middle of the floor so we could dance under the glitter ball, surrounded by lights and skaters, to take our photo. That was totally unexpected and much appreciated. Thank you Jim!
