Gracie was behind the bar and greeted us when we arrived. Several regulars, Ed and a gentleman who didn’t give his name, were talking and joking with Gracie. We headed straight for the dancefloor when we heard a great waltz playing.
They have a dart board, shuffleboard, two pool tables, internet gambling, and plenty of tables inside.
Outside are numerous tables, two tv screens, and a covered area for bands to play when the weather is nice.
Gracie said the establishment has been Shady Lady for about 20 years. It was called something else prior to that, but she and the other regulars couldn’t remember the name. Her mother worked here then. She now owns the place, though the eight year old brother thinks he’s the owner!
They have Thursday night steak night, live bands every Friday, and a DJ starting at 9:30 on Saturdays. Music is mostly country, some rock, and an occasional hip hop. Smoking is outside.
It’s a nice place with great, friendly people, a smooth dance floor (lovely floor!) and fairly long beer list. We recommend stopping for the atmosphere and the dance area.
